Walkers can explore the Lake District

It is no surprise that walkers regularly stay at the Meadowcroft. Our guest house is located amongst some of the finest scenery in the country and is the perfect base to explore the Lake District. Being just two miles from Windermere and six miles from Kendal, we are in a convenient location that's close to numerous walking trails, including Dales Way, Kentmere Horseshoe, Garbon Pass, or the leisurely fell walks to Windermere.

We also have extensive knowledge on the local area and can provide excellent advice for enjoyable walks. The whole of the Lake District is literally on your doorstep when you stay at the Meadowcroft, so feel free to explore the surrounding area. Be sure to bring along your camera to snap images of the outstanding and panoramic views. Books and maps are available for you to use whilst on your walks.

Please see the home page of our website for special offers.

Our Full English Breakfast, consisting of bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, egg and beans (or our other breakfast choices) will set you up for an enjoyable day in the Lakes. On return, if needed, drying facilities are available, as is outside running water to clean boots.

Cycling around the Lake District

The Meadowcroft Guest House is also cyclist friendly. We regularly cater for guests who wish to travel around the Lakes on bicycles and the guest house is well-equipped for this purpose. We are situated on a major cycle route, just two miles away from Windermere. Many of our guests enjoy a cycle down to the Lake, where they can enjoy the sights and sounds before returning in the evening.

If you're feeling a little more adventurous (and energetic), Kendal is six miles away and offers plenty in the way of amenities.

Our cycle lockup at the guest house allows visitors to safely store their cycles when not in use. Additionally, drying facilities are also available for when guests have been caught in the rain. We also have hot showers and/or baths to ease tired and aching limbs.

Just a mile and a half away in Staveley is "Wheelbase", one of the UK's largest stores for those wishing to upgrade their cycles. If you're a cyclist, be sure to pay a visit, even if it's just to browse the available products.
